Mark Blumenkranz MD MMS is a co-founder and the  Managing Director of Lagunita Biosciences. He is the HJ Smead Professor of Ophthalmology Emeritus and the Co-Director of Ophthalmic Innovation at Stanford University. He  served as the Department Chairman and Inaugural Director of the Byers Eye Institute from 1997 until 2015. He has been actively involved in Biotech and Medtech innovation in Silicon Valley for the past thirty years including co-founding and serving on the boards of Optimedica Corporation, Adverum Biotechnologies, Peak Surgical, Verana Health, Oculeve, Combangio, and Kedalion Therapeutics.  He has also served on the Boards of MidLabs, OIS, Oculex, Presbia, One Medical, BVI, Kala Bio, Iveric Bio and ONE Medical. He co-founded and serves as the current President of the Collaborative Community on Ophthalmic Imaging (CCOI).
